Brief History of Walt Disney: The Man Behind the Magic
Walter Elias Disney was born on December 5, 1901, in Chicago, Illinois. He was the fourth of five children born to Elias and Flora Disney. His father was a carpenter, and his mother was a homemaker. Disney's family moved to Marceline, Missouri, when he was four years old. He spent his childhood in this small town, where he developed a love for drawing and storytelling.
Disney's first job was as a newspaper delivery boy. He also worked as a commercial artist for a local candy store. In 1919, he moved to Kansas City, Missouri, to pursue a career in animation. He got a job at the Kansas City Film Ad Company, where he learned the basics of animation.

In 1920, Disney founded his own animation studio, Laugh-O-Gram Films, with Ub Iwerks. The studio produced a series of short animated films, but it went bankrupt in 1923. Disney then moved to Hollywood, California, where he founded the Disney Brothers Cartoon Studio with his brother, Roy O. Disney.
In 1928, Disney created Mickey Mouse, one of the most iconic cartoon characters of all time. Mickey Mouse starred in a series of short films that were immensely popular.
